Something Else
If I were able to just make enough money to get by...covering mortgage, meals, required expenses, taxes, etc...I think I'd do something completely different. Maybe that would be painting or pottery or peeling potatoes. Just. Not. What. I. Am. Doing. Now. But peeling potatoes does not pay enough to cover my mortgage. So now what?

It's a difficult problem. My solution was to sell the farm and move to a place with vastly different land values. Of course, when you do something like that, chances are that employment opportunities will be quite limited. Still, that's not always a big problem if you own your home outright and have extra money earning interest. That's actually what we were planning to do in 2008 if Don had not been diagnosed with cancer in late 2007.
